MacShane: Kosovo will become a small state

Koha Ditore quotes former British Minister for Europe Dennis MacShane as saying that it is clear that Kosovo will never again return under Serbian rule and that part of the solution for the Balkans is for Kosovo to become a small state that can stand on its own two feet.

‘As soon as Belgrade leaders come out with positive proposals and tell Europe that Serbia will no longer insist for Kosovo and will allow it to resolve its future, the better it will be for all in the region because after this we can set up European norms in Kosovo,’ added MacShane.

Ah... It begins... The hints of independence that the Serbs are so scared of.

It will get worse Serbia, much worse.

Small but powerful son.

Small is better, more efficient... :)

Why does every Western diplomat become so pro-Independence once they live their office? I guess Europe and the US need some bold politicians, the way Bush and Rugova are.

It's not that they're so pro, they're just stating the obvious. The limitations their office presents to speaking their mind aren't there anymore.
Bush and Rugova are nothing alike.

A small failed state in the Balkans. A great solution for all, obviously.

Politicans are restrained with exposing their true intentions by the limitations of politics and the capability of their enemies to capitalize on bold statements, characterizing them as unpredictable, and out of the norm.

Bush and Rugova are vastly different politicians and people, I'd be hard pressed to focus on similarities between the two.

What would lead the last blogger to describe Kosova as a small, failed state? The country has barely hurdled past negotiations on its status, and you have rushed to banish it as doomed to fail, without even stating the reasons for your premature judgment. The reasons are more obvious than you'd prefer them to be, as your bias surely leans towards the Serbian side, and your frustration is shown through the guise of an alleged political insight.

Kosova will be a va-va-voom state - small but powerful!

Va-va-voom is right. Small, powerful, and allied with Albania (soon to be a conjoined state, but that's another story).

CONGRATULATIONS KOSOVA,
I sure hope that what MacShane said will come true! You guys deserve the right to independence, and freedom from the serbs. We (Croatians) know the price of freedom, and our civilians and soldiers paid that price. Your people also paid that price, and we wish all Albanians and Kosova a bright and independent future!
Good Luck!

Hvala Ante!

I would just like to inform you that the new va-va-voom state, i.e. Kosova, will be a close ally of Croatia and other peaceloving nations of the world.

Chris Blaku said...

Thanks for your congratulations, Ante. Croatia will continue to be a strong ally of the Albanians, as they constantly were in history, even during 20th century Yugoslavia.

The Albanians are the future heavy-hitters of the Balkans, and the oppressive Serbians will pay a heavy price for the oppression they've put the people through.
