Kosovo premier waiting for President Rugova to appoint Forum coordinator
Excerpt from report by Sami Kastrati entitled "Kosumi waiting for Rugova to propose Blerim Shala as forum's coordinator" published by the Kosovo Albanian newspaper Koha Ditore on 5 September
Prishtina [Pristina], 4 September: Prime Minister Bajram Kosumi has been waiting for President Ibrahim Rugova to propose Zeri publisher Blerim Shala as the government's coordinator in the Political Forum - if the Forum convenes at all this week due to the president's health condition. A reliable source told Koha Ditore that during a meeting between Kosumi, the head of Kosova's executive and President Rugova a while ago, it was agreed that Shala should be the government's coordinator on the Forum.
The source explained the government's stance on the competencies that the Forum's coordinator will have. He said the coordinator will deal with establishing the expert-level working groups; report to the government, president, assembly and the Forum on the process; and at the same time will harmonize positions between political party leaders in the country. Koha Ditore contacted Shala to obtain a comment on the idea about his being nominated the Forum's coordinator but he said that he was not aware if he would be proposed for this job; he also noted the Forum would have the final say on this matter.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders continued to argue that with regard to the issues linked to the status talks and the appointment of a coordinator in the Political Forum, there should be a consensus within the Forum itself. [Passage omitted]
