Three US senators offer draft resolution on Kosovo (Dailies)

Dailies report that three US senators, Joseph Biden, Richard Lugar and George Voinovich have presented a draft-resolution on Kosovo to US Senate Foreign Committee.
Under the headline Status of Kosovo – agreement between Kosovo, Serbia & Montenegro and the UN, Koha Ditore reports on its lead story on the front page that three US senators are proposing giving to Kosovo authorities ‘more competencies and more independence in accomplishing the Standards’, which also implies taking on the responsibility for failures and progress. The three senators say according to the paper that the unresolved status of Kosovo is not sustainable and does not contribute to progress, stability and peace in the South-Eastern Europe.

According to Koha Ditore the Foreign Minister of Serbia and Montenegro, Vuk Draskovic, has said that the three senators have taken a ‘balanced approach’ and has expressed his hope that their proposal will be accepted.

...once again, no mention of independence from the US...and we all know how vocal Biden has been on behalf of albanians...seems your hatemongering violent activities of late have dampened support for you.

dude ur mouth is full of trash, get an education, stop cleaning buidligns at night, stop selling heroin on the side and stop pimpin out albanian girls aroudn the world. learn facts ok, and in order to understand what a FACT is u must grasp the idea of NOT LIEING and accept the truth (for example thtat the albaniacs stole kosovo and that it was NEVER EVER EVER EVER UNDER ALBANIAN CONTROL) this should be easy to prove wrong no? go ahead I dare u. leave ur sheep alone for a moment and address the issue like a real man, not hidding behind the skirt of the USA as u usually do.

The Albanian's are dumb enough to look a gift horse in the mouth. Their infighting as usual will cost them kosovo watch and see.

Dam straight. They will implode while Serbia grows (dont even need proof here, look at the world bank reform report)!

Why the ugly comments, why? Do you thing you are achieving something? Why don’t you go and do something isn’t there some Serbian website where you can go and comment on the issues. We would like to analyze rationally, and you people seem to be incapable of doing that, so leave us alone. For months I have been reading Kosovareport, and all we do is post stupid comments against each other. I am a Kosovar, and really don’t like Serbian propaganda, lies, actions, politics, ideologies, however, not all of you are bad, and not all of you committed crimes during the war, the rest of you are hypnotized with nationalism, that’s ok you’ll grow up. Now do you see that your racial comments against Albanians prove that we (Serbians and Albanians) could never live in one liberal, democratic country. There is no other way, Kosova must be independent.

It is normal for Serbs to use these derodatorry terms when talking about Albanians because Serbs are a vrey ignorant society. They have a skewed and obscure view of Albanians built through years of indoctrination passed down generation through generation.
In the end the racists will not win in a world where societies are coming together to erase the bondaries of race, religion and ethniticity.
Extreme racism and nationalism as displayed by these unfortunate bloggers only leads to the destruction of the society this same ideology comes from. Case and point, Nazi Germany, Sadam's Iraq and the Serbia of the 90's.
The fact that Biden, Voinovich and Lugar did not include the explicit word "independence" in the report is only an indication of political maturity. The official US policy is not to support any one solution while excluding partition or Serbian rule. The fact that they have excluded Serbian rule over Kosovo should be a clue enough. Read between the lines dear sir, this is politics.
As far as the poster that is referring to the World Bank report about Serbia, you might also be interested in reviewing the latest report by the World Bank that describes Kosovo as one of the "best region in Eastern Europe to do business".
I'm sure this goes against your asertions that Kosovo can not be viable as an independent state, but the reality is Kosovo will be independent and will be a vewy wealthy state.
I will bet you right now that in 10 to 20 years Kosovo will be a wealthier country than Serbia and we will have a better equiped and better trained Army than Serbia's.
Just wait and see.
Sincerely,
Prince of Albania.

kosovo, if independent, will be no different than albania...as it isn't now....it will be just another third world majority muslim cesspool in south eastern europe. albanians are albanians. it doesn't matter if they are in kosovo, albania, macedonia....

Albania is growing faster and more vivaciously than Serbia is. Serbia has deepened itself in the midst of a financial and societial crisis. The Albanians maintain and preserve their identity, and aggressively pursue an education in their language, whereas the Serbians fail to reproduce and 50% of them do not have an elementary education.

FYI, following the collapse of communism and the subsequent government, Albania's real GDP per citizen has doubled from 1997 to 2005, on par with EU candidate Romania, and vastly surpassing Serbia. Only the beginning.

Moreover, there is no need for the US to take a position for or against independence, as their behavior has made explicitly clear their stance.

Do not forget that it was only six years ago that American bombs reigned over your heads in your Belgrade coffee shops. Your heroic dictator is on trial for war crimes, and you have assumed the name of Nazi's amongst all who know you.

Furthermore, earlier this year a bill was passed on the Senate floor entitled "The US Office in Kosova Act." In it, it was declared that the US would recognize Kosova as Kosova, rather than Kosova, and would open up the bidding process to private companies to compete on building A U.S. Embassy in Prishtina. That's an Embassy, not a Consulate.

An Embassy is defined as:

a government office located in a capital city of a foreign country which is responsible for the commercial and diplomatic interests of the home country.

Notice the italicized points, for your reference.

If the Albanian economy is boming than why don't all the albanians from the US, western europe, kosovo, macedonia and greece go back home since the reason they left home was for economic reasons?

double a negative economy doesn't make it a positive economy.

1997 is when the citizens looted and sold off the albanian armies weapons to the KLA which probably helped their GDP numbers. What is left to sell??????????????

The United States does not back the independence of Kosovo-Metohija, Director of the East European Studies at the Woodrow Wilson Centre, Martin Sletzinger, has said.

I finally think the Americans are coming to their senses!!!!!!!!

Chris Blaku said...

1) Those weapons were sold on the black market, and as any novice economist will explain, black market items are not indicated on government figures or statistics.

As said double a negative economy does not equal a positive one, but it is a lot closer than it was previously. It was not suggested that Albania has experienced an economic revolution, but rather that it is moving in the right direction, and with unexpected speed.

Serbia's economy is fairing far worse, all things considered, they have quite a difficult road ahead of them, socially, economically, and politically.

I didn't know Martin Sletzinger ran the State Department.

Why don't all Greeks from Germany, USA go back to Greece. Why don't Italians from USA, Brazil, Switzerland, France go back to Italy? Why should Albanians be any different.
You see a Serb write abouth something and you realize that people can miss a part of their brains and still be alive.

Chris can you please explain what the above blogger was trying to say?

Man shot to death in Albanian church while his children watched

Anton Kçira, the priest at St. Paul Albanian Catholic church in Rochester Hills, Michigan, was just about to distribute communion when 38-year-old Gjon Pepaj allegedly stood up from the congregation and said, "Yes, I am here!" and shot into the ceiling with a 9mm handgun. As the congregants scattered, according to reports, Pepaj then shot 38-year-old Gjek Isufaj in the back of the head, killing him. Then, according to witnesses, he shot into the air again, said, "I've done what I'm supposed to do," and shot Isufaj once more.

I believe this is the civility of the Albanians you were comparing to the Serbs.

Serbs didn't kill "8000 poor guys" in Srebrenica. Serbs killed criminals who killed Serbs in Srebrenica and all around. Nacer Oric, their boss, escaped by helicopter and was safe. This hoax of Srebrenica was very useful for the propaganda war of Izetbegovic and for the treacherous U$ sponsor. As the bombs of Markale and the massacre of Racak [we made valuations]all that is big lie and We know this. A French in Kosovska Mitrovica...
