Text of report by Radio-Television Kosovo TV website on 27 April
The OSCE representative on freedom of the media, Miklos Haraszti, has said that he is impressed by the progress made in the [Kosovo] media and the work done by media professionals, especially after the events [anti-Serb riots] of March 2004. Press freedom in Kosova [Kosovo] is in good shape.
The good spirit in the present political climate contributes to a situation where media can work with few obstacles and their rights are largely respected and guaranteed, said Haraszti. The politicians whom I met today in Prishtina [Pristina] made clear their willingness to further improve minority media, he added. He will present his findings in a report to the OSCE Permanent Council, with an analysis of the situation and practical recommendations for improving freedom of the press in Kosova.
