SRSG: Region can only benefit from solution of Kosovo’s status

All daily newspapers cover the international conference ‘South-East Europe on the path toward the European Union’, which was held in Zagreb. Dailies quote UNMIK chief Søren Jessen-Petersen, who attended the conference, as saying that a resolution of Kosovo’s status would benefit the entire region.

‘In Kosovo and in South-East Europe in general, the European Union must remain focussed, committed and in pace with international partners, including the US. It is only in this regard that we can move Kosovo toward a sustainable solution,’ Jessen-Petersen is quoted as saying in Koha Ditore.

Zëri, which carries the entire speech of the SRSG, quotes him as saying, ‘There is now a broad agreement supported by the Contact Group for the way forward and there is a clear timeframe that can lead us to the start of negotiations on Kosovo’s future status in the second half of this year.’
