Buckovski: FYROM is independent from Belgrade regarding its position on Kosovo’s final status (Koha Ditore)

Koha Ditore reports that in an interview for Utrinski Vesnik, Prime Minister of The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Vlado Buckovski said his country “will act independently on Kosovo regardless of its relations with Belgrade. The Macedonian Government must expand its interests regarding the issue of Kosovo’s status. Although Kosovo’s independence does not depend on Macedonia, we should support it with the aim of scoring points among the international community”.

Buckovski also said FYROM still did not have a clear position on Kosovo’s final status, but added that it would be known when talks commence on Kosovo’s status, Koha reported.

“Although the current position of the Macedonian Government could aggravate relations with Serbia… we should remain independent in this respect and protect the state’s territorial integrity. I don’t believe Macedonia’s position can aggravate relations between Belgrade and Skopje,” Buckovski was further quoted as saying. “The only thing left is the border demarcation with Kosovo and I think that UNMIK will be the key mediator for resolving this issue”.

According to the newspaper, the Prime Minister was categorical that UNMIK should be the key actor in the border demarcation process and added that this had been made known in the international community.

Its far more intelligent for Macedonia to support Kosova's independence and hence finally stamp its commitment to a multiethnic european Macedonia in terms of not underestimating Albanian community decision-making ability in Macedonia. In this regard, if Macedonia chooses to act on behalf of Belgrade, I'm afraid it would mean the end of a Macedonian state as we know it today. Therefore, the independence of Kosova is a win-win situation for both Kosova and Macedonia and for Balkans EU integration in general.

Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and at least Serbia, could not do nothing for Kosovo. The kosovars, shoud and will decide for themselves. And Macedonia know this very well. Meanwhile, Macedonia, will win much more from an indipendent Kosovo, than from a Kosovo without status, which must couse angain and again destability on the reagion.

Ali Ahmeti and co will make sure that Macedonia makes the right decision, don't you worry!

Slovenia (Rupel)
Croatia (Mesic)
Switzerland
Macedonia
Albania

The list is getting longer

And don't forget of course, not yet publicly, but certainly behind closed doors, the most important force in global politics, The United States are driving for an Independent Kosovo.
Years after that, when the dust settles I think Kosovo should merge with Albania to form a union of Albanian Republics that could be known as the Albanian Union, short name, Albania.
Soon bretherin, very soon!

It would be nice if Macedonia was referred to as Macedonia and not this ridiculous UN-imposed name Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia ("FYROM"). Do not play the games of the Greeks. They do not support independence of Kosova. I'm Macedonian, and I hope that Kosova becomes independent. Screw those Serbs!

As for the name of Macedonia, my people call it Maqedonia, that means this FYROM thing is totally unknown for me. The Greeks can screw themselves if they're counting on Albanian help in their name game after supporting Milosevic and Serbia during the worst times.

Anyway, the list get's longer guys:

Slovenia (Rupel)
Croatia (Mesic)
Switzerland
Macedonia
Belgium (by inviting President Rugova to their parlaiment, where he by the way took the Dardanian flag with him)
Albania
United States of America
Sweden (http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/0010/24/kosovo.html) - Göran Persson, prime minister of Sweden declares already in the year of 2001 that "Kosova should have independence"

Possible supporters could also be:

Canada
Germany
Netherlands
Bosnia
Hungary
Egypt
Saudi Arabia

As for countries against:

Serbia
Russia
China

....yeah, the list stops there I would think :).

No, the list does not stop there.

Add France, Romania, Spain, Austria, Portugal (changed mind after 17 march 2004), Denmark (changed mind after 17 march 2004), Sweden (changed mind after 17 march 2004), Bulgaria, Hungary.

Canada and Australia is definately NOT supporters of Kosova.
Us have other things in balkans now. Dont you follow international press ??

And by that account those countries want to see another totaly war in South East Europe? Do you seriously think that we will allow a single Serb soldier/police or Belgrade official to tell us what to do? Do you seriously believe that Kosovars can take more of your terror? Nein!

OK, but then please show me some of this "media talk". I'm waiting..

This kind of maffia-talk is exactly why so many international politicians are against an independent Kosovo.

You are so right ! The albanians think and wish for independence. Something that will never happen, and they now it deep in their souls, but will never a admit it.
They still think US will help them, but I know a lot. They will not. I can tell you that the american soldiers in Gniljane kicked ass on 17 March last year. You bet they did !
