War starts at the same time as negotiations?! (Lajm)

Citing information published by The Independent, Lajm reports on the front page that the British counter-intelligence service has expressed fear that in October Kosovo could face a similar situation as in 1998. According to the Independent, there is fear that Serb militants in Mitrovica and the north-eastern part of Kosovo could organise. ‘Intelligence services have information that they could be backed by Serbian nationalists from the other side of the border,’ said the source.

The paper says that KFOR has denied having any plans to increase the number of troops when negotiations are expected to start on Kosovo’s final status.

Al least KFOR has the reaction procedures in place to react now.

Ylber says:
If you think that's not true, you are dreaming my brother. That's how we lost north Mitrovica in the first place.
The bottom line is that Serbia wants to keep ownership of the mines of Stan Terg and Mitrovica which are valued at over $15 Bilion. If we do not prepare ourselves to protect the only valuable thing the Albanians have besides the adriatic shoreline, Trepca, we will pay for it for years to come.
Wake up and smell the bacon, Serbs want partition!

Ylber,

That's why we have to overcome our pain and sorrow and suck up the return of Serbs all around Kosova. Otherwise they will congregate in places like Brezovica, north of the River Iber, and Gracanica and seek partition. We have to think long term here. We must not give Serbs and Covic all the things that Milosevic gave us, an excuse in the face of international community for separation along ethnic lines.

Is anyone surprised by this?

That's what happens when international community allows lawlessnes in Northern Mitrovica in the name "multi-ethnic" society.

The serbian thugs and criminals have been ruling there for years now.
They opposed the opening of the bridge. They threaten any Albanian that wants to go back to their homes there. They threaten serbs who want to join the Kosova institutions. They receive their directives strictly from Belgrade. And now they will use violence if Kosova gets indepence.
Nothing strange here really, they have been preparing for this for years, with the goodwill of the International Community, especially the Frogs who "patrol "that area...

I really hope UNMIK will finally wake up, and wipe out the parallel structures that operate in northern Kosova. Their only reason for existing is to disrupt every process in Kosova. If UNMIK is sincere in its aspiration to build a multi-ethnic society, it's first action should be to wipe out the structures that promote hatred and ethnic divisions.

If the Serbs misbehave, it will reflect poorly on them and that will have an impact on final status negotiations. On the other hand, every time an Albanian takes a shot at a Serb house or vandalizes an Orthodox Church, it reflects poorly on Albanian ability to protect minorities and that will also affect how the EU & USA will approach final status.

Kosovars have been giving away the moral high ground ever since 1999 when they were largely regarded as freedom fighters and victims of Serb ethnic cleansing. The memory of that time is growing dim, but the facts of the Serbs cleansed from Kosova, churches burnt, and the 2004 riots are more recent memories for the internationals.

Don't worry about the Serbs--if left alone they will hang themselves. Just make sure Kosovars are not misbehaving.

I totally agree with the previous blogger. The end of the tunnel is near. It's the final challenge Kosovars have to face now. Don't give neither the internationals nor Serbia any reason to dismiss your justified wish for independence.
Held your head up high but don't respond to any provocation.
I wish you all the best and good luck on your way to that goal!

Thank you both...
