Kosovo institute criticizes UN mission chief's idea of "Informal Forum"

Prishtina [Pristina], 5 May: The Kosova [Kosovo] Institute for Policy Development said that proposal for establishing of an Informal Forum is in fact an attempt to prolong administration of UNMIK [UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo] in Kosova.

The representative of this institute, Blerim Burjani, stated through a press release that the initiative of head of UNMIK Soeren Jessen Petersen for establishing an informal forum is a political phenomenon, which took place earlier in different variants.

"A similar variant was that of the Kosova Transitory Council [KTK] which was set up by the SRSG [Special Representative of the Secretary General]," he said.

"Even during the 1990s there were such efforts," he added, referring to the period when a part of the Kosova leadership in lack of institutions established a forum, which has made important political decisions.

Burjani stated that UNMIK proposal aims at creating an impression that the political and institutional stability in Kosova is not promising.

"The SRSG acts in this case in contradiction with the Constitutional Framework," he said.
