In few weeks it will be known whether Jessen-Petersen will lead UNHCR

The paper says that chief administrator for Kosovo Søren Jessen-Petersen will find out in few weeks time whether he has been appointed as the new head of UNHCR.

Zëri quotes Western diplomatic sources saying that Jessen-Petersen is a preferred candidate for the post and that he is well respected by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, which is very important in this case.

Jessen-Petersen has made it clear that he has still work to do in Kosovo, but if the processes there become complicated instead of simplified in the near crucial period, it would be no surprise if the SRSG leaves Kosovo before the scheduled time and takes up the post at UNHCR, Zëri writes.
