PRISTINA (AP)--Kosovo's government spokesman resigned from his post after being accused of leaking stories criticizing the province's prime minister to the media.
In a resignation letter sent late Thursday, Daut Dauti, the spokesman for Kosovo's prime minister Bajram Kosumi, said he was "happy to depart from this group of people who act like aliens."
Dauti's resignation followed days of media reports accusing Kosumi of corruption.
"I have been accused of being guilty for some stories that appeared in the press. I sincerely believe I am not guilty (and) that the media carry stories which bare the stench of irresponsibility and corruption," Dauti said.
Throughout the week, media reports focused on Kosumi after he was pressured to disclose how he paid for a private jet to return to Kosovo from his holiday in Turkey. The province's media estimated that the cost of the jet might have reached EUR20,000.
Kosumi responded that "his friends" paid for the trip. Opposition parties called for him to resign, saying he breached Kosovo's anti-corruption law, which bars government officials from accepting gifts worth more than EUR50.
Some officials from the Democratic League of Kosovo, the largest party in the coalition government, have expressed dissatisfaction with Dauti recently.
Kosumi was elected prime minister in March after the province's previous prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, stepped down after an indictment by the U.N. court on war crimes against Serbs and ethnic Albanians.
Kosovo is run like a de-facto U.N. protectorate and has been patrolled by North Atlantic Treaty Organization-led peacekeepers since 1999, when the alliance's bombing ended a Serb crackdown on ethnic Albanian militants. It has an elected parliament, government and a president.
The province's government is made up of a coalition between Kosovo's largest party the Democratic League of Kosovo and Kosumi's smaller Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.

This I like, that we give corruption the attention it needs, take serbia for example, if you don't plan to be currupted in any way you wont get a post in the government! =)
Mr. Prime Minister,
it is time for you to go.
A step forward. Corruption should not be tolerated. It's too bad that Dauti has to leave in order for more beans not to be spilled.
Mr. Prime Minister promised he will stay and work over the summer to fulfill the standards. He not only went on vacation, but on a jet.
OK, I have to admit that I do not know all the details, but I think this is a positive development, i.e. people taking a stance against something they see as against the interests of our country, against the interests of Kosova.
Kosova above everything else!
Country above personal interests!
That's what I like to hear more and more often.
Not only that, but an insider defying cronyism and speaking up against those that don't respect the laws of the country. That's where the allegiances of every citizen should lie, on the country's laws.
Kosova uber alles!
The primeministers defence, sounds a bit strange, but it didn't surprise me that Ceku had something with this to do!
PRISHTINE (9 Shtator) - Pas situates se krijuar ne media dhe ne qarqe te caktuara politike, lidhur me ate qe keto qarqe e kane cilesuar "skandal", per shkak te shfrytezimit te nje avioni privat per kthimin tim nga Turqia, une si kryeminister i Kosoves e ndjej per detyre te sqaroj opinionin me sa vijon:
"Ka qene nje takim i paplanifikuar dhe i pashtyeshem me ambasadorin Kai Aide qe duhej realizuar ne Prishtine, e qe ka shtruar domosdoshmerine per t'i nderprere pushimet dy dite me heret. Berja pozitive e raportit te ambasadorit Aide eshte gjeja me e rendesishme ne kete moment. Duke pasur parasysh faktin se Qeveria e Kosoves nuk ka avion te vetin dhe se rrezikoja te mos kthehesha ne kohen e duhur, miku im ministri Et'hem Ceku, qe ka qene bashke me mua, ka siguruar avionin privat per kthim. Kur kam deklaruar se kthimi eshte bere i mundur me ndihmen e disa miqve te mi, kam menduar ne ministrin Et'hem Ceku i cili duhej te kthehej se bashku me mua dhe biznesin e tij familjar. Ne asnje moment, as atehere e as sot, nuk kam dyshuar se bashkeshfrytezimi i ketij sherbimi te mikut tim te vjeter familjar, ministrit Ceku, mund te konsiderohej si mitamrrje apo korrupsion.
everyone head for the hills, it looks like its going to be an old fashioned Albanian Fued. Your savage like culture will always hold you back.
why are the albanians so savage?
I would like for the Serb bloggers to remind me what's the deal witht the Serb minister of defence again. Also why was the former Serb prime minister killed. Why are the Serbs so savage?
Individually Albanians might be savages but at least as a state we are not savage. It is impossible to think of Kosova going through a brutal war with Albania the way you slavs (origin of the word slave for those who do not know) raped and murdered each other like flies. Go Monstar (kafsh)
"everyone head for the hills, it looks like its going to be an old fashioned Albanian Fued. Your savage like culture will always hold you back. "
This coming from a Serb :)
Talking about savages, you pretty things made World War 2 look like a picnic
"said he was "happy to depart from this group of people who act like aliens."
Dauti knows his own people well. "Aliens" is a fairly apt description when it comes to albanians trying to govern.
"one of the oldest people in the world" hahahahahahah only a stupid insecure sheep fucker could say something as moronic as that, as if ALL the people of the world are not desending from "the oldest people in the world". dude show ME SHOW ONE THREAD OF EVIDENCE THAT SHOWS EVEN AN A IN ALBANIA FROM THE ILLIRIAN CULTURE (and dont give me the albanoi tribe bullshit caue if u are basing ur argument on that i can point the baku and azeri albania where u really came from). show ur "albanian and illirian connection" culture, art, monuments etc etc etc that were from the illirian times, show me when was the first time that the word ALBANIAN WAS USED - IT WAS IN THE 12th CENTURY!!! not 4, 10 or 20 thousand years ago. it is a know fact that all of the people of the balkans share common ansestors, now that fact that the albos have no culture and nothing of their own to be proud of is another issue. SHOW ME ONE, JUST ONE ALBANIAN SOURCE PRIOR TO THE 19TH CENTURY THAT CLAIMS U ARE THE ILLIRIANS??????!?!?!?!?! HAHAHAHAHAH U WILL NEVER FIND ONE!! NEVER!!! u guys started to lay cliam to that thoery in the 19th cent. after u saw the croats and serbs doing so as well. be original for once. and for ur info there are many muslim serbs in sandjak and bosnia and catholic serbs in dalmatia, and guess waht they were traitors just like u guys were to ur christian faith. check this out idiota:
Continuity in Balkans
Despite the multiethnic nature of the Balkans, it seems that most inhabitants of the peninsula share common ancestors. Scientists feel that we will have a better picture of these ethnic trajectories within the next several years. The genetic marker M170 appears to have come from the Middle East to the Balkan region roughly 20,000 years ago. It seems today that this marker is unique to the Balkans area, though research suggests that about 80% of European genetic stock goes back to Paleolithic period.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Balkans
Albanians and their "history" ---they took a page from their WW2 ally and mentor, Joseph Goebbles:
"If repeated often enough, a lie will become the new truth. "
Or we can quote a Serbian president saying the following:
" Lying is the patriotic duty of the Serbian people"
You lie so much you believe yourselves.
I think claiming that Albanians are direct descendents of Illyrians is not right. There cannot be an 'ethnically pure' nation, simply because the Balkans has been the crossroad of so many paths of movement of the population in the past.
Albanian language though, is surely one of the oldest languages of Europe. Enciclopedia Britanica says that all names of ancient Greek gods derive from a language close to today's Albanian:
Zeus - Zojs (proto-Albanian) - zot (Albanian)= GOD
Afrodita - Aferdita (Albanian) = Dawn (Erly morning, Morning Star)
This is a living proof.

...I see another 'flower' of the albanian nation appears before me. Keep it up. You are a great advertisement for your nation.
You can visit Hague for a day and the adviertisement for the Serbian nations is made without any need for embellishments. Anyways how's the Serbs Ministry of Religion doing? Brainwashed $hitheads.
AS an American, I think that a former communist country that elevates religion in the post-communist phase is a good thing. So does George Bush. It is those that have no religion but hatred, like you, that are cause for concern.

Contribution to humanity:
Serbs have played a prominent role in the development of the arts and sciences. Prominent individuals have included the scientists Nikola Tesla, Mihajlo Pupin, Jovan Cvijic, Milutin Milanković and Mileva Maric (mathematician and Albert Einstein's first wife); the famous composer Josip Runjanin; Rudjer Boscovich's father was Serb. In the United States, two Serbs are NBA stars: Vlade Divac and Peja Stojaković and actress Mila Jovović's father is Serbian.
The mother of the last (Eastern) Roman Emperor Constantine XI Paleologos Dragases was Serbian princess Helene Dragas, and he liked to be known by her Serbian surname of Dragas.
According to the National Enquirer, author Ian Fleming patterned James Bond after Dusko Popov, a Serbian double agent nicknamed Tricycle.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed Slavonic March (Marche Slave) in 1876 known at first as the “Serbo-Russian March” based on Serbian folk melodies as “Come, my dearest, why so sad this morning?”

the modern Albanians were not mentioned in Byzantine chronicles until 1043, although Illyria was part of the Byzantine Empire, and since the Illyrians are referred to for the last time as an ethnic group in Miracula Sancti Demetri (7th century AD.), some scholars maintain that after the arrival of the Slavs the Illyrians were extinct. [3]
(see the Jireček Line) it is believed that most inhabitants of Illyria were Hellenized (the Southern part) and later Romanized (opponents say that some Illyrians were not Hellenized or Romanized, but maintained their own language, which may have been a proto-Albanian language). [4]
most Illyrian toponyms, hydronyms, names, and words have not been shown to be related to Albanian, and they do not indicate that Illyrians spoke a proto-Albanian language (opponents say that many of these toponyms, hydronyms and names are Hellenized and Romanized; whether the change in form is dramatic or not is hard to know in a number of cases).
ancient Illyrian toponyms (such as Shkoder from the ancient Scodra, Tomor from ancient Tomarus) were not directly inherited in Albanian, as their modern names do not correspond to the phonetic laws of Albanian [5]
a number of scholars believe that Illyrian was a Centum language, though others disagree. If Illyrian was Centum, then it is unlikely that Albanian (which is Satem) is an Illyrian language

to the above poster; while this information may be of interest to some, this is not the proper forum in which to post it. The topic at hand is the government of kosovo and it's spokesman resigning. Please stay on topic.
Why would the European Union expect that the ethnic albanians of kosovo would be able to run a country any less corupt than their brothers in albania. STOP spreading the disease EU!!!!!
