De Hoop Scheffer: Political dialogue should start

Daily papers report on the visit of North-Atlantic Council to Kosovo on Friday. The NATO delegation was led by its General Secretary Jaap de Hoop Scheffer who said that if Kosovo does not manage to meet standards set forth by international community, the processes in Kosovo may be delayed.

‘I hope this will not happen but the whole thing depends on the future progress that relevant and responsible people in Kosovo make’, added NATO official in a press conference in Prishtina.

He also said that political dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade should start right away, Koha reports.

Zëri quotes De Hoop Scheffer saying, ‘This is a very important year for Kosovo but the test will, of course, not end this year. Kosovo should demonstrate political maturity’.

Express carries the heading ‘Strict Secretary’ and writes that De Hoop Scheffer is known for his criticism and high tone he uses to address especially Kosovo leaders and ‘this time was no exception’.
