Amato: Independent Kosovo the only solution (Lajm)

Former Italian Prime Minister and President of the International Commission for Balkans Giuliano Amato said while presenting the annual report of the commission that the only solution for Kosovo is independence.

In the report published in the Italian daily ‘Corriere Della Serra’, Amato says that in the future the Serb minority issue in Kosovo can be solved with the special status of Mitrovica and its suburbs.

Amato also says in the report that Serbia and Montenegro must separate or revive the Federation, which now resembles a ghost. According to him, all ex- Yugoslav Republics must enter the EU as soon as possible, because this is the only way that they can indeed revive economically and overcome the mutual hatred.
