Serbia not helping Kosovo talks: Ceku

SOFIA, April 29, 2006 (AFP) -

Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku accused Serbia on Saturday of not being "constructive" in talks over the final status of Kosovo, where the ethnic Albanian majority is demanding independence.

"Unfortunately, Belgrade has not been so constructive in this first round of negotiations," Ceku told journalists here on the sidelines of a conference on "Political strategies for the Balkans".

"Until now, Serbia has very much had an ethnic and territorial approach to these issues and we have a citizenship approach. There is our big difference," he said.

"The only resolution for Kosovo is an independent country, integrated in Europe and NATO and with good relationships with all its neighbours," Ceku added, referring to the province as "an emerging nation".

Ceku's statement came a day after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that independence for Kosovo was "a fairly dangerous path that could lead to dangerous consequences for the region."

"We don't agree with those trying to persuade us... that there is no alternative to Kosovo independence," Lavrov told reporters Friday during a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sofia.

Russia has long sided with Belgrade in challenging moves toward independence for Kosovo, a southern province of Serbia which has been administered by the United Nations since the end of a 1998-1999 war.

Serbs see Kosovo as the cradle of their culture and religion and Belgrade has refused to countenance independence, offering complete autonomy instead.

UN-backed talks between Belgrade and the ethnic Albanian government in Pristina on the ultimate status of the province began in February, with a conclusion expected by the end of the year.

I don't understand this guy. He is upset at Serbia for not gladly and happily letting go of its Holy Land.

Dudes before we let sovereign nations resolve their own diputes let us remeber that Albanians of Kosovo are not the same nation they were in 1999. So unless we want Serbia to shrink all the way to Nis lets just give up Kosovo.

And the Holy Land comment, man please it didn't work 20 years ago, 10 years ago and it will not work now.

NY if the whole world hates you (and they do because they bombed you) then why the hell keep talking, do you actually think anyone cares? Bu-bu-bu-but Russia said this and that. Last time I checked Russia was killing minorities, Russia is in no position to speak about taking care of minorities...or running a nation (they are on American foodstamps).

Ny you are in no position to speak period, it's not your position to speak about what happens to other countries. There must be something that all these "rogue nations" want to split. Maybe one of those reasons is because there are filthy scum terrorists that massacre poor innocent people because of ethnicity/religion/race/skin-color....like I don't know Serbia and Russia.

That's right "Independence for Kosova", according to your logic, the whole Islamic world must hate the United States too because we got bombed by Islamists in 1983, 1993 & 2001 (and at various other occasions in between those years). Get a reality check, "Independence for Kosova": NATO bureaucrats/government officials do NOT represent the opinion/will of all of the Western people, so stop using the specious "the whole world hates you because NATO bombed you" logical fallacy. Just look at the Islamic world's protest against US/NATO policies in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine etc.

Who the fuck do you think are talking to to about USA? I know all about America, the ruler of the free world. You must be a redneck to tell me that 26 members of NATO do not REPRESENT the whole world. Since you are an idiot here is a map that shows the countries that are members of the NATO

NOTICE that the WEST is in it...mainly the most modern semi-super powers in it. NATO does represent what the whole world thinks, you just haven't figured it out.

"Siptar, USA might give u Kosovo and Metohija, but Serbia will never agree to that. As soon as USA falls ( the attack on Iran might be its fall), Kosovo will return to itr true owners."

Wow these fuckers are so stupid. I cant imagine the implications of the fall of the most powerful country on earth. The markets, peace, progress and everything in between.
