Prishtina [Pristina], 7 April: The representatives of the Kosova Serbs accepted during a meeting today the request of the Contact Group to return to the Kosova institutions, but asked them to provide guarantees that their participation will not serve only for decor.
The chairman of the Serb List for Kosova-Metohija, Oliver Ivanovic, made those comments following the meeting that the Kosova Serb representatives had with the Contact Group representatives, who are in a visit to Kosova. "Of course, the status process was the main point of our discussions. We emphasized that our demands were not taken enough into consideration. There should have been more space and more understanding for them," he said.
He said that the Serb List understood the Contact Group's message to return in Kosova's institutions and to prepare for implementation the agreement that will be reached during Prishtina-Belgrade talks. "We will agree to enter into the institutions, but we believe that it is not enough to just enter the way Contact Group representatives request. They should also provide guarantees that our representation will not be a mere decor," Ivanovic said.
Although, Ivanovic said that they expect Belgrade's approval and understanding regarding this decision since the following will be a sensitive period, when the talks are expected to be in a serious stage, and added that "it is very important that Belgrade's representatives come in Kosova to convince the people to remain here, rather than deal with these issues the same way as with the salaries, causing confusions among Serb population".
