PM Qeku says Kosovo wants good relations with Serbia

PRISTINA, April 24 (Hina) - Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Qeku said in Pristina on Monday that his government wanted good relations with Serbia, stressing however that good bilateral relations also required good will from the other party.

During his regular weekly address to citizens on Radio Kosovo, Qeku said that Serbian institutions must do all that they could to shed light on the fate of thousands of Albanians who went missing. He also asked Serbia to distance itself from the past and apologise for what he called horrible crimes committed in Kosovo.

Qeku said Serbia must accept a new reality and recognise Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state in which local Serbs, as Kosovo citizens, should realise their future in peace and mutual respect.

Speaking about the Kosovo-Macedonia border demarcation issue, Qeku said this would not be an apple of discord in good bilateral relations, adding that the two sides would find a modus vivendi, based on the principle of border inviolability in the region.

He is dead wrong. The Serbs in Kosovo are citizens of Serbia-not some ridiculous Kosovo state. They will always be citizens of Serbia. International law also allows them to be citizens of Serbia.

how was he wrong?, they live on ethnic albanian land, they must accept their fate. If anything, the international community will take the back of the albanian majority.

Serbs will be living on Serb land and will pledge allegiance to Serbia. That's the way things are going to be in Kosovo.

Just like the French in Canada should in no way demostrate loyalty to, or identify with the rest of the Canadians?

Serbs of Kosova can most certainly be citizens of Serbia - in that case they need to be registered as visitors in Kosova, and won't be allowed to work or get any of the benefits.

Its a shame NATO stopped Serbia, I remember there was a time when backwards Albanians used the wrong side of the road to leave Kosovo. Wouldn't it be pleasant if Tomislav Nikolic gained control of Serbia? with America and the EU tied up else where who would come to anyones aid?

As an Albanian I sincerely hope Nikolic gets the power in sewerbia.

I beleive that me must learn to leave the past behind for the sake of our next generation. Otherwise we will always be fighting with each other. Lest make peace rather then war and show to rest of the world that Albanian can forgive as well.

As a soldier in the 111th air borne I'd say I speak for all Real Christian Americans when I say I hope Kosovo does try to gain independence.... Only so the Serbs can erase some of Americas past mistakes by attacking and re-cleaning the province. I for one know my unit wouldn't do a thing for Albanians.

As a soldier, you have an opinion, but are sworn to uphold US policy and lawful orders. You don't speak for the rest of us.

"In ethnic clean society like Kosovo and Metohija another solutions beside independence are not accepted or ignored. " Are you a retard or something? DO you even know what you wrote really means. Anywho, independence seeking is based on two facts not considering the demographics, one- kosova had autonmy-serbs removed it, meaning any autonomy we get now could be abolished same as it was in 1989.
two-serbs committed genocide on albanian population of Kosova by killing thousands and deporting 800000 out of kosova.
