Contact Group leading principles still unclear

Koha reports that the CG closed meeting hosted by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns has revealed contradictions among its members on Martti Ahtisaari’s deputies and the role of CG member states during status talks.

According to the paper CG member states haven’t yet managed to harmonize their position as regards Ahtisaari’s authority. Reliable sources told the paper that Ahtisaari warned that he wouldn’t want any member of the CG to interfere in his ‘autonomy or dictate to him’.

The same sources told the paper that Ahtisaari didn’t oppose the candidature of EU Special Envoy Albert Rohan for his deputy.

Kosova Sot writes that the outcome of the meeting will be communicated after a few days.
