Kosovska Mitrovica, 9 April: The Community of Serb Municipalities of Kosovo-Metohija, the Serb National Council, the head of the Kosovo-Mitrovica District and all four municipalities in northern Kosovo have concluded that the decision of UNMIK [UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo] to abolish Serbian [car] number plates was not in line with UN Resolution 1244, thus non binding for the Serb community.

Protests and meetings are also planned in order to reassure citizens that the decision will not become reality, it says in a statement signed by the chairman of the Association of Serb Municipalities and Settlements, Marko Jaksic.
