EU's Solana rejects Macedonian demands for immediate border demarcation

Text of report by Kosovo Albanian television KohaVision TV on 13 April

[Announcer] Javier Solana, the European Union High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, has rejected Shkup's [Skopje's] repeated demand to carry out the border demarcation between Macedonia and Kosova [Kosovo] before talks on Kosova's final status. According to him, demarcation should take place after the resolution of Kosova's final status since, as he put it, this issue cannot provoke a new conflict. The issue should be dealt with after the resolution of Kosova's final status, said Solana.

According to him the decision to start the resolution of Kosova's status should be taken by the secretary general of the United Nations in cooperation with the [UN] Security Council and Kosova authorities.

Kosova President Ibrahim Rugova shares this view of border demarcation between Kosova and Macedonia.

Right on, Javier, for once in your life. Macedonian government likes the fog over Prishtina and Kosova's present unsuitable position to make deals with Belgrade and then have UN verify them based on some international law technicality. This is just the mixture that get wars started down the road.

If you and your people were a little more civilized and actually realized that Macedonia is your friend then the balkans would be 100 times better than western europe.
