PDK Asking Assembly to Proclaim Independence

All daily newspapers carry quotes by PDK Leader Hashim Thaci after his meeting with SRSG Jessen-Petersen, saying that PDK wants Kosovo Assembly to debate a Resolution on Independence before his party joins the Negotiations Team.

Koha Ditore quotes Jessen-Petersen as saying that the unification of Kosovo political actors during preparations for status talks is of utmost importance, adding that there should be a real debate on status issue in K-Assembly and then Rugova’s Negotiations Team will take over the key role.

Zëri reports that PDK has sent a draft Resolution asking Kosovo Assembly to proclaim Kosovo’s independence before talks on status open. The paper also writes that Thaçi has said that PDK still wants to continue the debate on the Negotiations Team, and only after the issue is concluded, they will decide whether to join the team or not.

very brave what Mr. Thaci is asking for. the only way we'll get what we need is for albanians to do what they did in 1912. However, i may be wrong here, in 1912 we were saying "shqiperia e shqiptareve". can't say that anymore. Kosova is home to some serbs as well. If we proclaim independence now at this point it would be the same as telling the UN we don't care about your opinions. Do not get me wrong, the only status kosova should get is the one it deserved from 1912, independence, but i just think that it is slightly soon for that. You can't ask for status talks if you proclaim independence. I say let the talks start first and then put pressure, because Mr. Thaci IS right there'll be only independence.

Independence at what cost? 1,000,000 dead albanians, and than what?

Autonomy at what cost? 1 000 000 dead Albanians after 10 years and then what?

i don't fully understand your point. are you saying you'll kill a milion albanians if kosova wins independence. are you saying you will kill a milion albanians if we start fighting for independence in case UN gives us only autonomy?
Dude wake up and smell the coffee. Serbia has shown every thing but being able to show that is able to extend the same human rights to every citizen no matter the difference in religion, origin or believes. On what basis can you ask back for Kosova if the only facts that you bring forth against the independence of kosova are the exact same facts why kosova cannot go back to serbia. who do you think has a better chance, you who started the genocide or kosovars who suffered the genocide. who do you think is more likely to become the aggressor again?

I like to be 'attacked' by Serbs. They have a big dick. I love them. Aleksandra.

After the revocation of Kosova's autonomy, the Serbian authorities closed schools in the Albanian language, massively dismissed Albanians from state-owned enterprises, and suspended Kosova's legal parliament and government. Serbia instituted a regime of systematic oppression of the Albanian population in Kosova, and flagrant violations of basic rights of Albanians occured frequently. albania
