SRSG in KTV: Political will of Kosovo people to determine status talks

Koha Ditore prints an interview UNMIK chief Søren Jessen-Petersen gave to a Prishtina TV Kohavision where he said that the closer talks on Kosovo status get, the more there is an increase of ambitions but ‘great ambitions can also be great dangers.’

‘I think it would be good if President Rugova met Tadic,’ said Jessen-Petersen in the interview but said it is not fair to say EU is insisting on the meeting between two officials. ‘Dialogue is part of standards,’ added SRSG.

Asked whether he will be the last international administrator to Kosovo, Jessen-Petersen replied, ‘I sincerely believe my work and that of UNMIK should be to finish the job and this can happen only if there is a resolution to define UNMIK’s mandate.’

both of them have a "BB" (bad breath) so it is difficult to talk without an insulated screen between them...

The only way that KOsovars will determine its OWN status... is if the UN security council approves a new resolution to 1244...WITHOUT a veto from Russia or China. GOOD luck.

Why would Russia and China be against this? China and Russia have no reason to back Serbia in anything especialy the Chinese who are not very much respected by the Serbs.

As for Russia, this country is older and better, I would run away from being in anyway associated with Serbia.

Kosova/Kosovo is headed for the EU, thanks for wishing us good luck...

What are the consequences of Russia and China not recognizing Kosova's independence. Nothing except for Kosova not having the right to vote in the UN when it becomes independent. Hmm, independence or the right to vote in the UN, which one would u vote for?
No pun intended.

Even when Russia and China won't recognise Kosovos independence the rest of the world, in particular the US and EU, will.
By the time Russia and China will have to face the facts and they will follow.
