An independent Kosovo is not viable, it can either go to Serbia or Albania, the president of the Coordination Centre for Kosovo-Metohija, Nebojsa Covic, believes.
He says that a possible alteration of borders would have repercussions on other parts of the region.
"The common goal of Belgrade and Pristina is the European Union, and if we are all to end up there, I do not see why we should continue to implement further divisions," Covic said in an interview with Glas javnosti of Belgrade.
He said that he did not understand politicians who publicly spoke about matters within their mandate while stating privately that Kosovo is almost lost.
"Nothing is lost until it is really lost. Nobody has given us the right to lose things. This is our state, our territory. An independent Kosovo is not viable, it can only become part of either Serbia or Albania," Covic said.
He said that the assessment of the fulfilment of standards would be made in May and added that the talks on the final status of the province should start in September.
Stressing that the proposed solution for the status of Kosovo had been formulated as "more than autonomy, less than independence", he explained that the concept of a high degree of autonomy was taken from [UN Security Council] Resolution 1244.
"This is not the pre-1999 autonomy. The province will be set up in accordance with European and international standards, with competences that do not transcend the boundary of independence. We have the mandate for this," Covic concluded.

If we count only more than 500 thousand Kosovo Albanians who live abroad and hope that they invest each 100 Euro per year in Kosovo (which is feasible; they used to pay 3% of their salary to the Rugova government in 90's) it would mean 50 million EURO investment a year.

Covic talks only about the two extremes of possible final solutions for Kosova (eventhough both are unrealistic). The solution of independence will only be a neutral solution of these two extremes that Covic was arguing. Covic's objective is only about alienating the world with the most viable solution for Kosova - independence.
Hi you up above me. Kosovo is Serbia, but Albanians won majority in bed as stated above. Further more Albanians were abusing democratic institutions of Western Europe and United States. The economic interests of some US politicians were (in the past) favourable for Albanians living in Kosovo. But the times are changing... Serbia will succeed to protect its national identity and historical heritage.
