UNMIK prepares project for Order and Security Ministry by mid-April?

Zëri reports on the front page that UNMIK Pillar I (police and justice) has sent a written note to UNMIK Police Commissioner Kai Vittrup last week announcing the soon creation of the Kosovar Ministry of Order.

The letter reportedly seeks Vittrup’s opinion on which directorates and functions could be passed from the administration of KPS to the responsibilities of the future Ministry of Order or Internal Affairs.

The paper notes that even though the creation of Ministry of Order has been talked about for quite some time, it is now becoming something more tangible but some fundamental issues have yet to be discussed. These would include the security concept that would apply to Kosovo, namely what would be the precise title this ministry would bear in Kosovo.

KPS Colonel Behar Selimi however does not believe that plans on the creation of this ministry have gone so far as to think that ‘Kosovo will get the relevant ministry tomorrow’. He claims that the works are still on the level of drafting projects and concepts on how the ministry would look like.
